Labour welfare can be defined as the voluntary efforts made by the employer to provide better conditions of employment for his/her employees. The main objective of labour welfare is to secure improved standard of living for workers, which has an impact on the worker’s psychology and results in an increase in their productivity. Labour welfare could include facilities such as-housing, medical, education, rest rooms, adequate wages, reasonable working hours, insurance etc which could improve the physical, mental, and moral conditions of the worker. Facilities such as insurance and conducive working conditions, create an atmosphere of security for the worker. This also has a significant bearing on the goodwill of the employer and the relation between the worker and the employer.
CCF is working to ensure that developers are sensitized towards the needs of the workers and provide adequate facilities in the labour camps for the workers and their families. This includes initiatives such as creches for children of workers, clean and hygienic sanitation facilities, safe drinking water and food and overall improved living conditions for them.
CCF would also be taking up initiatives for BoCW registration of workers to ensure that workers are able to avail the benefits they are entitled to by the Government, such as life and disability cover, health and maternity cover, housing support etc.
